I have spent 3 days sifting through search material about brake upgrades. Most of it is from last year or earlier. I can't seem to find a straight answer. I emailed a bunch of people including vendors, but I think 50% generated an auto-reply that they are away until whenever. I want to upgrade my front brakes for the track (yet remain streetable) and still employ stock wheels. I had decided that Russell's Wilwood kit would fit the bill. I was a little hesitant about the lack of dust seals, but...However, Russell basically needs a group buy to produce them. When I posted asking if anyone was interested, it degenerated into a Wilwood vs Stoptech debate, and I didn't really see any interest other than that. I contacted Mov'it NA, they claim their kit will work with stock wheels, but mentioned that the rotor might need to be shaved because it expands when hot and may make contact with the wheel. Either way, due to the weak dollar, that's $2700 for basically a Porsche kit. Search yielded some info about Skyline R32 kits, some Porsche Big Red kits (including one from Glenn with 11.6" rotors that looked promising), VR4 rotor upgrades, etc. I couldn't find anything about any of these from this year, most posts ended with "we'll see how these work out." The info is a little dated and I can't find anything recent, it seems that these type of kits have fallen out of favor given the quality and affordability of kits like Stoptech. Unfortunately that's not an option right now. Anyone have any input? I guess if worse comes to worst, I will follow nixit's path and do up the stock setup (pads, fluids, SS lines, ducts, etc), but despite his assurances I have a hard time believing stock can stand up to the track.
